Master of Music in Music Performance
Overview
The M.M. in Music Performance offers advanced study in an applied area of music specialization, along with graduate-level academic study in subjects such as musicology and theory. The program prepares you to become a professional performer, conductor, or composer, depending on your area of specialization.
The M.M. degree program usually takes two years of full-time study to complete, or 3-5 years of part-time study (7 years maximum). The Master of Music degree may be earned through part-time study, full-time study or a combination of both.

- Composition
- Conducting
- Voice or Instrument (includes Jazz Studies) – Areas of concentration include classical guitar, piano, percussion, saxophone, harp, all orchestral strings, woodwind and brass instruments; or jazz instruments (saxophone, trumpet, piano, guitar, string bass, and drum set).
The minimum requirements for each option are:
- Complete 30 credits
- Perform a 55-minute voice or instrument recital
- Pass a written comprehensive examination
