I am the national executive director and COO of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Inc (SCLC)—an organization led and co-founded by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I am a leader in the civil rights community, a scholar, a political ally on issues related to gender equity, and a burgeoning thought leader on intersecting issues related to race, religion, and politics. I am the founder of the SCLC Poverty Institute; an organization founded to address systemic inequity. Furthermore, I am the 2013 recipient of the Emancipation of Capital Award for my strategy and programmatic work building coalitions to address socio-economic equity in the U.S.
