About:
Hi! My name is Maryam and I am BA student studying Political Science and Gender & Women’s Studies at the University of Rhode Island. I am minoring in Nonviolence and Peace Studies and became interested in the topic of Kingian Nonviolence when I started working at the Center. I was able to take Dr. Paul Bueno de Mesquita’s PSY478 Special Topic: Nonviolence Conflict Reconciliation course in the Fall of 2014, and I immediately fell in love with the topic of Nonviolence and its applications. I was born in Iran and go back frequently to visit family and friends. My ultimate goal is to use my training to teach others, especially inside Iran, about Nonviolence and tackle global issues such as humans rights and domestic violence. I am fluent in Farsi and English and hope that my language skills and academic background will allow me to help my community in the US and Iran.
