Fred grew up in the suburbs of New Jersey with his family, and he decided to pursue automotive mechanics. Fred says, “as my brother Sam and I were getting ready to part ways from our parents, he questioned why we were following in their ‘successful’ footsteps if they’re still so unhappy.” After much deliberation, the two decided to stick together as a family and pursue a more cooperative village-like lifestyle. They moved to rural upstate NY and began exploring what is possible, eventually deciding to share their experience with the world by founding their educational non-profit organization, Haven for Humanity.
