Build a foundation in sustainable resource management, state-of-the-art technical skills in GIS, and frameworks in natural resource decision making.
This flexible graduate certificate program was created for students who seek expertise in natural resource management and for professionals who are interested in updating their skills in analyzing, managing, and communicating data about natural resources.
With courses being taught by committed academics and practitioners, students will develop the ability to manage natural resource challenges and translate data into effective communications about complex natural resource issues and solutions.
Careers
With over 50,000 people in the U.S. currently working for government agencies and non-profit organizations as natural resource professionals, earning your Graduate Certificate in Natural Resources and the Environment will provide you with a foundation in sustainable resource management, geotechnology and GIS, and natural resource decision making. This data-driven approach to manage complex environmental problems can further advance your career in the field, promote your rank in the military, or provide a stepping stone to completing your Master’s degree in a more efficient and economic manner. Career options include:
- Environmental Consultant: Conducts environmental assessments, develops sustainable practices, and ensures compliance with environmental regulations for consulting firms, governmental agencies, or as a freelance consultant.
- Natural Resource Manager: Manages natural resources such as forests, water, and wildlife, develops and implements conservation plans and policies for government agencies, non-profits, or private sector companies focusing on resource management.
- Sustainability Coordinator: Develops and oversees sustainability initiatives, works on reducing environmental impact, and promotes sustainable practices within organizations including corporations, universities, and municipalities.
