Biography

Abbie Lahmers supports all of the Metcalf Institute’s strategic communication efforts and helps elevate the organization’s profile. She was previously an editor of Hey Rhody Media Co. for over five years, where she had a hand in everything from pitching and writing long-form features to developing web and newsletter content, and her articles have earned Rhode Island Press Association awards. Before moving to Rhode Island, she earned an MFA in fiction from Georgia College and State University, where she held an editorial assistantship and served as a teaching fellow. As both a freelance journalist for organizations like the Audubon Society of Rhode Island, and a fiction writer, she enjoys using creative storytelling to inspire readers to foster meaningful connections with the natural world.
