Biography

Laken is a postdoctoral researcher in the QUEST Lab here at URI. She has a B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Science from California University of Pennsylvania, a M.Sc. in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from Penn State University, and received her Ph.D. in Environmental and Ecosystem Science from URI in 2024.

Research

Laken’s research focuses primarily on the ecology and movement, distributions, and population trends of mammals. She has worked with a variety of species from small mammals like muskrats and fox squirrels, to carnivores like fisher. Her research is most often applied to management of local species and she enjoys her collaborative efforts with local state wildlife agencies, such as with the RIDEM Division of Fish and Wildlife.
