Biography
Dr. Nicole H. Weiss received specialized training in the application of multicultural psychology to research and practice as a doctoral student at Jackson State University, a historically black university in Mississippi. Following receipt of her PhD in clinical psychology, she completed a NIDA T32 Postdoctoral Fellowship at Yale University in Substance Abuse Prevention, where the focus of her training was on the application of an ecological framework that emphasizes social and cultural contexts. Since joining the University of Rhode Island, Dr. Weiss has taught the multicultural curriculum for clinical psychology doctoral students, which includes supervising their multicultural clinical training. She also directly supervises multicultural clinical training in her STRESS Lab, where clinical psychology doctoral students have the opportunity to administer structured diagnostic assessments such as the SCID-5 and CAPS-5 to research participants in Providence who are diverse in terms of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, etc.
