Biography
Dr. Prasasti Pandit, Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Rhode Island, specializes in Ethics with a focus on Applied Ethics, Comparative Moral Philosophy & Current Social & Technological Contexts of Ethical Reasoning.
She received her Ph.D in Ethics in 2020 and has been teaching at both the undergraduate & graduate levels since 2014. Dr. Pandit was previously an Invited Guest Lecturer at James Madison University. Her current research includes an exploration of the Moral Value of Emotions, Feminist Ethics, Public Health Ethics and Beneficence within Moral Philosophy. The book “The Moral Quest for a More Credible Form of Beneficence”, A Comparative Philosophical Analysis, has been published by Ethics International Press, Cambridge, UK.
At URI, Dr. Pandit teaches large-enrollment and upper-level Ethics courses. Additionally, she is actively working on the Development of AI Ethics and Certificate-Aligned Ethical Curricula. Her Teaching and Curriculum Development work was recognized as part of Featured Articles in Rhody Today, and she was acknowledged in the faculty spotlight from the College of Arts and Sciences at URI in Fall 2025. Dr. Pandit received the URI Award for Excellence in General Education in 2024, along with earlier recognitions including the State Research Fellowship, National Junior Research Fellowship, and the Young Woman Educator and Researcher Award.
Dr. Pandit regularly presents her work at national and international conferences, including the World Congress of Philosophy, and is committed to making philosophy accessible beyond the classroom through public engagement and innovative pedagogy.
Apart from teaching and research, she is also passionate about dance, recitation, creative writing, digital content creation, and short filmmaking. She also loves to travel and spend quality time with her family.
