Philosophy Department Awards

Each year the Philosophy Department faculty selects graduating senior philosophy majors to receive the University Excellence Award, the Lynn Pasquerella Book Prize in Ethics, the Donald J. Zeyl Book Prize in Ancient Philosophy and Classical Studies, and the John F. Peterson, Jr. Book Prize for Independent Work in Philosophy. We announce the winners (and add their names to plaques in honor of each award) at our annual Spring gathering.

Philosophy Honors Society

Each year (at our annual Spring gathering) we invite and induct new members to join the Phi Sigma Tau International Honors Society for Philosophy. URI’s Philosophy Department became the Rhode Island Delta Chapter of Phi Sigma Tau in 2016.
