The University of Rhode Island Police Department is responsible for and has jurisdiction over all URI campuses. We maintain patrols on the Kingston campus 24/7 and respond to calls for service at the Narragansett Bay Campus as well as the W. Alton Jones campus. Our Providence campus (CEPS) and Rhode Island Nursing Education Center (RINEC) are staffed by University Police and Security. All satellite campuses are overseen by the Captain of the URI Police Department.
URI Police Officers have full arrest powers and are graduates of the Rhode Island Municipal Police Training Academy. In addition to mandatory annual police training, our department participates in ongoing trainings related to current law enforcement and social issues. We investigate and prosecute all crimes that occur on University property, as well as traffic accidents, traffic violations, and other calls for service.
