The Security Forces, Rights & Society (SFRS) Lab at the Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies sponsor an internship program for University of Rhode Island undergraduate and graduate students that allows students to work with faculty members Roya Izadi, Skip Mark, and Thupten Tendhar on the ongoing research projects at the lab. This is a great opportunity for students to gain hands on experience in conducting original research that is applicable to many fields and jobs. Data collection on Societal Militarization and Human Rights are the central responsibilities of this internship/directed study opportunity but the skills students learn travel beyond these topics.
This unpaid internship program provides students with a chance to work on significant issues in national security, international relations, and strategic studies. Undergraduate student interns may receive up to 6 hours of academic credit (Pass/Fail) by enrolling in PSC 375 or 376. Students working 100 hours may receive 3 credits; those working 130 hours or more may receive 4 credits. Graduate students may enroll in PSC 551 or 552 for this internship.
Students may also apply for directed study to work on these projects. Undergraduate students may enroll in PSC 455 or 456 and graduate students may enroll in PSC 555 or 556.
