Last week, the Security Forces, Rights, and Society (SFRS) student fellows, Ava Palma, Brianna Knight, and Zach Hurwitz presented the SFRS project, “Understanding Societal Militarization,” at the Inter-university Seminar on Armed Forces and Society in Reston Virginia. Their presentation examined the growing role of the military in domestic affairs, including policing, crisis response, and law enforcement and highlighted pilot data they have been collecting as SFRS lab fellows on military engagement in these domestic roles. The conference also provided an opportunity for them to exchange ideas and receive feedback from leading scholars and practitioners in the field.
