Professor Chris Parker received a $4,000 grant from the Institute for Humane Studies for a project titled “Support for Popular Constitutionalism in the American Public.”
The grant will help fund a nationally representative survey examining the degree to which the American public supports popular constitutionalism — the idea that interpretations of the Constitution should be based on the popular will. The survey will also include an experimental design to help understand how supporters of popular constitutionalism differ from those who prefer a more legalistic court that ignores public opinion.
