The URI Department of Psychology is prioritizing efforts to achieve a more diverse, inclusive, and multiculturally sensitive environment. Building upon much of the work initiated by the Multicultural Task Force, the department transformed the task force into a permanent committee, the Inclusion and Diversity Committee (IDC), in Spring 2017.

The IDC strives to foster a socially supportive and welcoming community of faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Some current IDC projects include:

• Organizing training opportunities for faculty and students
• Evaluating curricula and issues of multiculturalism in the classroom
• Creating a database of multicultural resources for students and faculty
• Promoting recruitment/retention of diverse faculty, students, and staff

We welcome everyone to become involved with the IDC. The IDC meets the third Monday of every month at 1pm.
