BAND/MUSIC OPPORTUNITIES

All students, regardless of major, are encouraged to continue performing music while attending URI.

All ensembles may be taken for credit.

Audition requirements vary. Several ensembles are open to
ALL students with previous experience.

Mandatory Band Camp: August 29 – September 2, 2022

 

Concert Band (MUS 292)

Rehearsals: 4PM – 5:30PM; Tuesday and Thursday
Requirements: Open to all students with experience playing a band instrument.

Description: The Concert Band performs two concerts each semester in the Recital Hall of the Fine Arts Center. The ensemble prepares an eclectic repertoire that encompasses a wide range of composers and musical styles.

Marching Band (MUS 291)

Requirements: Open to all students with experience playing a band instrument or in color guard. Color Guard and Drumline members will have auditions on the first day of band camp.

Description: In addition to performing at home football games and other university functions, the URI Ram Marching Band is often featured in parades and in exhibition performances throughout the region. The Marching Band performs 2-3 complete field shows each season, representing a wide range of musical styles.
