The Phantom RFP
It appears out of nowhere right before the deadline — missing details, attachments, or the correct classification.

The Undead Deadline
Just when you think you’re safe — it rises again!
BUST IT:
- Follow URI’s Five-Day Rule so proposals can be reviewed and approved in time.
- Some colleges have earlier internal deadlines — check with your Local Grant Administrator to make sure no last-minute hauntings appear at midnight.
The Cursed Cost Share
A tricky spell if not handled carefully.
BUST IT:
- Only include cost share that’s required by the sponsor or approved by your ADR or OSP’s AVP.
- Review URI’s Cost Sharing Overview and Cost Share Training to learn what qualifies, how to document it, and which forms to attach before routing.
The Haunted House Next Door
When working with another institution, don’t let confusion creep in.

- Determine early whether your partner is a subaward (collaborator) or a vendor (service provider).
- Visit URI’s Subcontract, Requisition, and PO Process page to see which path your project should follow.
