    “Evaluation of Multiple Entry Points for Bioinformatics Training”

    Christine Smith. Evaluation Coordinator for Maine INBRE at the MDI Biological Laboratory. “The Maine INBRE continues to integrate bioinformatics training into its established research experiences for the state’s undergraduate and community college students. Recent additional training opportunities developed by the Maine INBRE Bioinformatics Core and with colleagues in New Hampshire provide data science training for these students as well as the faculty at their home institutions. This brief presentation will provide an overview of our strategies to evaluate these programs.”

  • Danielle Vaclavik and Sharon O’Connor, Internal Evaluators for New Hampshire INBRE and Rhode Island INBRE at the Center for Program Design and Evaluation at Dartmouth College. “NH-INBRE’s new workforce development initiative has been exploring the benefits of pairing current NH-INBRE students with private sector NH-INBRE alumni for one-on-one mentoring conversations. We will present feedback from students and alum who participated in the first two rounds of conversations.”

  • Tabitha Finch, Director of the Professional Development and Education Core for the Vermont Biomedical Research Network (VT INBRE). “In an effort to promote collaboration, the exchange of ideas and interdisciplinary research among our network, the Vermont INBRE offers funding for the formation of thematic research groups around a shared interest. With two currently-funded thematic research groups composed of academic, industry and state partners, the Vermont INBRE provides scientific support that might otherwise be scarce to faculty at primarily undergraduate institutions. “
