NIH Cloud-Based Learning Supplement

Award Announcement FY2022:

Dr. Christopher Hemme, “Analysis of Biomedical Data for Biomarker Discovery”

RI-INBRE was one of ten INBRE programs awarded (July 2022) an administrative supplement through the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of General Medical Sciences, to build a cloud-based learning module to teach biomedical data science concepts in a cloud environment.

Dr. Chris Hemme developed the module “Analysis of Biomedical Data for Biomarker Discovery.”

In this module, students will learn basic concepts in biomarker discovery and assessment using linear and logistic regression on clinical biomarker and proteomic datasets provided by Dr. Nisanne Ghonem (’15, ’16 Pilots) at the Department of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, at the University of Rhode Island. The module was initially deployed on a cloud-based sandbox in November 2022 and additional content will be deployed through March 31, 2023.
