John Rhoat (CCRI SURF → URI BS → Amgen) participated in the RI-INBRE SURF Program under Dr. DeBoef (2013). His successful research project was instrumental in the development of the collaborative research and curriculum development project between the DeBoef laboratory and the CCRI ChemTech program (see 5.6.7).  John transferred to URI (2013), participated in the SURF program (2015) again with Dr. DeBoef, and earned a B.S in Chemical Engineering (2017) with a 3.81/4.0 GPA. He was recruited by Toray Plastics New Product Development Division directly out of URI, and is now a Manufacturing Associate in Purification at Amgen (West Greenwich, RI).
