Amanda Montalbano

  • Research Technician

Amanda was a research technician in the Rynearson Lab and continues her work as the lead technician in the Menden-Deuer lab at GSO. She received my B.S. in Marine Science with a concentration in Marine Biology from the University of Maine in 2004. She was given the opportunity to go on my first research cruise studying iron uptake in the North Pacific that summer and was hooked. She wanted to work somewhere that would allow her to get hands on experience at sea. That led her to the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS) where she was a research technician for three years. She was responsible for measuring and analyzing phosphorus in the Sargasso Sea as part of the Bermuda Atlantic Time-series Study (BATS). She started a new adventure in June of 2009, learning to appreciate and care for phytoplankton in Dr. Susanne Menden-Deuer’s lab.
