This course examines the biodiversity, ecology and evolution of marine plankton in the context of the oceanic environment. Topics include life cycles, geographic and temporal distributions, drivers of diversity, food web dynamics, biological-environmental interactions, and the role of plankton in biogeochemical cycles.
