Research

My research focuses on associations between PFAS exposures in childhood and cardiometabolic risk factors, including obesity, body composition and lipid profiles. We know that early developmental stages are particularly vulnerable to chemical disruption, and that childhood cardiovascular risk factors persist into adulthood and predict cardiovascular outcomes later in life. I apply advanced epidemiological methods to ascertain what windows of exposure are particularly important and to estimate the effects of individual chemicals from the mixture of PFAS and other chemicals that children are exposed to.
