The University of Rhode Island has announced the recipients of the 1998 Black Scholar Awards.

Talent Development Students who won awards this year are:

• Shirley Consuegra – Sojourner Truth Award for Scholarly Persistence and Dedication
• LaJhon Jones – Jackie Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award
