2012 Black Scholar Awards

The University of Rhode Island has announced the recipients of its 2012 Black Scholar Awards.

Talent Development Students who won awards this year are:

  • Mecca Smith – William Gould Award for All-Around Outstanding Achievement
  • Maria L. Beltre – Martin Luther King Jr. Award for Outstanding Leadership and Contribution to the University Community
  • Marissa Norman – Althea Gibson Scholar-Athlete Award
  • Nana Ama Ofei-Tenkorang  – Saint Elmo Brady Award for Outstanding Achievement in Science
  • Justin Brown – Saint Clair Drake Award for Outstanding Scholarly Research
  • Antaeus K. Jefferson – David Edmonds Award for Outstanding Artistic and Creative Expression
