The URI Theatre program provides a conservatory experience in a pre-professional liberal arts setting. Our distinguished faculty, guest artists and staff place an equal emphasis on the theoretical and practical understanding of theatre.

Artistically vibrant, relevant and rooted in collaboration, our unique production program enriches all students and serves the educational and cultural needs of the university and the greater community.

Program Highlights

  • Approved B.F.A. curriculum with intensive specialization in one or two of four disciplines: Acting, Directing, Stage/Theatre Management, and Design/Technology
  • Low student to faculty ratio, with specialized classes in small, seminar-like settings
  • No audition required to become a Theatre major
  • Undergraduate-only program, so no competition from graduate students
  • Specialize in multiple areas of theatre, double major, or minor; and still finish in four years
  • Opportunities for paid employment within the department while pursuing your degree
  • Professional, diverse, rotating faculty with guest artists from Boston and NYC

Clothing, Furniture and Prop Donations

URI Theatre welcomes donations of clean, slightly used clothing, unusual or period furniture and various small items for use as props or set pieces in our productions.
