Biography

Bob Flynn comes to the University of Rhode Island following 28 years of naval service where he was a naval flight officer in carrier-based aircraft and retired as a Commander.

Bob graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1992 with a degree in English and holds master’s degrees from Troy University and the U.S. Naval War College. He has deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Southern Watch, and Decisive Endeavor on three different aircraft carriers as well as a ground tour in Basra, Iraq supporting the U.S. Army’s counter-IED efforts. Recently, Bob served on the military faculty of the Strategy and Policy Department at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, RI. His most recent aviation assignment was as Executive Officer of the Navy Flight
Demonstration Squadron (Blue Angels) where he stood up the XO position. Bob is currently on the Board of Directors for the Domestic Violence Resource Center of South County and the Vice President of the Blue Angels Association.
 
Bob’s wife, Michelle, was a career naval officer and retired as a Commander. They have three children and live in Narragansett, RI.
