The Mustard Mansion Book Club

Thursday, October 24  – 8:00-9:30 p.m – Women’s Center, Multipurpose Room

Join our book club at the Women’s Center! Our book for the month of October is The Sisters Are Alright: Changing the Broken Narrative of Black Women in America by Tamala Winfrey Harris. This book describes counter arguments and provides narratives that contradict the prejudiced opinions of Black women in America. Join us as we discuss sex, strength, health and other troubles that Black women face. We will meet at 8 pm in the Women’s Center Multipurpose room. Anyone that is a part of the URI community is welcome!

Join our book club at the Women’s Center! Our book for the month of November is The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. This book depicts the journey of a young Black girl yearning to have blonde hair and blue eyes so that she may fit what she believes are American beauty standards. Join us as we discuss the themes of race, social class, self love and other ideas that emerge. We will meet at 8 pm in the Women’s Center Multipurpose room. Anyone that is a part of the URI community is welcome!
