Biography

Deborah E. Rosen is a Professor of Marketing at the University of Rhode Island, Kingston, RI. She received her Ph.D. degree in Marketing (major) and Logistics (minor) from The University of Tennessee in 1992. She has taught courses at the undergraduates, MBA, Executive MBA, and doctoral level in knowledge systems, channels of distribution, relationship management, new product development and internet marketing.

Her research, which has been published in the Journal of Business Research, Journal of Electronic Commerce in Organizations, International Journal of Services Industry Management, Marketing Science Review and Journal of Marketing for Higher Education, includes the study of interfirm relationships; Web site design; marketing of higher education; and Quality Function Deployment in new product development.

From 1999 to 2006, she served as the Director of the full-time MBA program. During her tenure in this position the program has been revised and the curriculum has been updated to include projects with Rhode Island start-up companies through the Slater Centers as well as Rhode Island non-profit organizations through Social Venture Partners of Rhode Island. Her work with start-up companies includes participation in the Brown Forum for Enterprise where she has served on the planning committee as well as participated in forum panels. In 2006, she developed an MBA concentration in Supply Chain Management.

In 2006 she was appointed Executive Director of the University of Rhode Island Transportation Center. This appointment allows Professor Rosen to combine her Supply Chain Management activities within the College of Business with similar initiatives throughout the University and the region.

She has presented at numerous professional conferences regionally and nationally including the American Marketing Association, Academy of Market Science, Society for Consumer Psychology and the Annual Symposia of Marketing and Entrepreneurship.
