CELS to help 16 families in holiday drive
The College of the Environment and Life Sciences has set a goal of assisting 16 families this holiday season as part of the 9th Annual URI Spirit of Giving Holiday Drive.
Cyndi Messier, executive assistant to Dean John Kirby, said the response from faculty and staff has been solid thus far this year and the hope is to provide gifts such as warm clothing, toys, gift cards and monetary donations to help the families in need.
Last year CELS adopted 12 families under the program and this year the hope is to expand the number to 16. URI, noted Messier, was the largest donor in the statewide drive run by Children’s Friend and CELS was the largest donor at URI.
The drive will end Dec. 6 at a reception held at the University Club from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Unwrapped gifts can be brought at that time and also to the memorial Union Information desk. Call 874-2433 if attending the reception.
