NRS researcher has video on YouTube

Dr. Laura Meyerson, associate professor, in the Department of Natural Resources Science, has a video on YouTube that describes her research being done while on sabbatical in the Czeck Republic.

The video, prepared by the U.S. Consulate there, lasts about six minutes and can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNxvvKkvDVk.

Meyerson’s main research is on the invasive plant Phragmites australis and one avenue being explored with her colleague, Petr Pysek,  at the Institute of Botany at Pruhonice is whether the genome of the plant contains information that can foretell whether a plant will become invasive. Phragmites australis has been an invasive in the U.S. for a long time and has edged out the native phragmites to a great extent.

Meyerson’s sabbatical ends in August.
