As a boy, University of Rhode Island senior Justin Resendes dreamed of playing professional soccer, and as an all-state honoree and captain of his high school team, he seemed well on his way to achieving his goal. Now his big idea is coaching in Major League Soccer.
Destiny Chearino is a student of the class of 2012. Destiny loved karate as a child, earned her black belt at age 11, and traveled as far a Italy to compete. But her desire for longer-lasting challenges with full physical contact motivated her to walk into a gym near her home and pick up a pair of boxing gloves.
Soldiers are constantly at risk for injury. That’s why research physiologist Maria Urso ’97, M.S. ’00 and her work finding the most effective means to help muscles recover after injuries is so valuable to our defense efforts.
