Our Future of Nursing Scholars

The College congratulates nurses Angelita Hensman and Pamela McCue, who are pursuing their doctorates at the College through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Future of Nursing Scholars program.

Pamela McCuePamela’s research focuses on understanding the pre-collegiate education pipeline to increase the diversity of the nursing workforce. She is interested in new nursing education models that result in a more diverse workforce and its impacts of social determinants of health. Pamela is CEO of the Rhode Island Nurses Institute Middle College, a charter high school in Providence. Pamela served as director of Nurse Registration and Nursing Education for the State of Rhode Island and executive director of the Rhode Island State Nurses Association.

Angelita HensmanAngelita is interested in patient safety in the NICU. Her research focuses on preventable neonatal readmissions. She received her master’s degree in nursing education from Georgetown University and is certified in neonatal intensive care nursing. Her prior experience includes adjunct faculty at Rhode Island College School of Nursing and the Brown University Warren Alpert Medical School in Providence. She is a research manager at Women & Infants Hospital in Providence and site research coordinator for the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development’s Neonatal Research Network.
