Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this application-based program, pharmacists will be able to:

  • Describe the clinical presentation of tardive dyskinesia;
  • Choose appropriate treatment strategies to minimize risk of tardive dyskinesia;
  • Describe the metabolic side effects of antipsychotics;
  • Explain how to manage these metabolic complications;
  • Describe ultra-long-acting insulin glargine and its appropriate use;
  • Identify patient populations eligible to use the new rapid-acting inhaled insulin;
  • Discuss different practice models in which pharmacists and pharmacy technicians can deliver services and make a measurable impact;
  • Describe the role of a care transition pharmacist in hospital and skilled nursing facility settings;
  • Explain the role of the pharmacist conducting a Medicare annual wellness visit within the health care team.

Upon completion of this application-based program, pharmacy technicians will be able to:

  • Describe the clinical presentation of tardive dyskinesia;
  • Discuss different practice models in which pharmacists and pharmacy technicians can deliver services and make a measurable impact;
  • Describe the role of the pharmacy technician in a centralize prescription refill facility;
  • Describe ultra-long-acting insulin glargine and its appropriate use.

Community, hospital, managed care & consultant pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and mental health professionals and other interested healthcare professionals.

On-site registration available, as space permits. Registration fee on or before June 10, 2015 is $45.95; after June 10, 2015 registration is $55.95. Registration fee includes program materials and a light dinner. Registration fees, subject to a $15 processing fee, will be refunded provided written notification is received 7 days prior to the program.
Continuing Education Credits
acpesmallerThe University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This application-based program has been accredited for 2.0 Contact Hours (0.2 CEUs) for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Attendance and completion of online program evaluations at the conclusion of each session are required for a statement of credit. No partial credit is available for this program.  Evaluations must be completed within 30 days of the program. CE data will be reported to the CPE Monitor upon completing the program evaluation though it take up to 72 hours to show up in your CPE Monitor account.  CPE transcripts and statements of credit are available via the CPE Monitor at www.mycpemonitor.net.
