FLM 352: The Art of Film Comedy

This course will investigate the technological, artistic, creative, and narrative force that is television and its influence on global film. It examines the dominant genres of 21st century television, including Nordic and Mediterranean noir, and examines prominent thematics that are the focus of many TV series. It will investigate the ways in which global film production has been affected by the developments in American, European, and Asian TV, and the ways in which television has ingested, co-opted, copied, and participated in the production and promotion of what we identify as “television” and what we identify as “film.” Critical examination of historical, theoretical and aesthetic topics in world cinema. May be repeated for a maximum of 12 credits with permission of the director and change of topic. *No prerequisites required*
