Emily Patrolia, MAMA F2014

Bio:

Originally from the North Shore of MA, Emily attended the University of Delaware after a gap year of driving launch boats in MA, working on organic farms in Ireland, and teaching natural sciences and conservation in a tropical dry forest in Ecuador. While working towards her Bachelors in Environmental Studies at UD, Emily researched the economic value of increased ocean observing and better inundation models in the Mid-Atlantic coastal zone and the social perceptions of risk of sea level rise. She also worked with MARACOOS (Mid-Atlantic Regional Association Coastal Ocean Observing System) for two years as a stakeholder liaison. She is now in her first year in the MAMA program.

Research interests:

The effects of sea level rise on coastal communities, especially resilience and adaptation strategies in urban areas.
