Students from Landscape Architecture Class Present Analysis of Port of Providence at Stakeholder Workshop

Undergraduates from Landscape Architecture and Graduate students from Marine Affairs and Environmental Science and Management presented their analysis of the Port of Providence to Stakeholders on Wednesday, the 29th of October. The sustainable design studio studio combines these disciplines to design a more resilient Port of Providence through policy, planning, and design. The presentation of the students findings included historical, ecological, built environment, economic and regulatory, and “Kevin Lynch” analyses. Afterwards the stakeholders and students broke up in two groups to discuss what they had just heard and share questions, comments, and ideas about the analysis and the upcoming design phase. The students will take that information and design a Master Plan that will make the Port more resilient to storm surge and sea level rise through physical adaptations and policy and planning strategies.
