Emma Hayes ‘22, a double major in communications studies and gender and women’s studies, interned at the Providence Preservation Society in Providence, RI.
“The internship experience has pushed me out of my comfort zone and taught me how to write for a more general audience that I will encounter more in the future,” she says. “I also have appreciated the hybrid style of work that I have been able to experience. Being a student during the COVID-19 pandemic has been quite challenging. When I had to do most of my studies online, it was very easy to lose purpose and it was hard to engage with the work I was doing. With this internship, I can go to the office in Providence every other week. I still do most of the work remotely, but going to the office every once in a while allows for better communication and makes me feel more connected to the experience.”
