Biography
I’m originally from the Chicago area and joined the Navy 2002 where I served as a nuclear operator on submarines for 6 years. I was stationed out of Groton, CT and when I completed my service I decided to stay in New England.
In 2009 living in Rhode Island,he enrolled in URI’s engineering program graduating in 2012 as an electrical engineer. After graduation he took a position with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) and also enrolled in a graduate program with URI for a masters in public administration, and graduated in 2014.
After four years with NUWC, he briefly took a consulting position in the commercial nuclear industry out of Chicago and then returned to the defense sector taking a position at General Dynamics Electric Boat. After 7 years with Electric Boat and rising to a position as an engineering supervisor, he left the defense sector to focus on new energies and decarbonization with Shell and their technology center out of Boston called Shell Techworks.
At Shell he supported their projects in electrification of the mining industry as a program manager, where as a team they stood up a new program investigating the electrification and charging of large haul mining trucks. After working with Shell to develop this program over 2 years, the organization decided to take new strategic directions regarding decarbonization incentives. After standing up the program with Shell he was still passionate about decarbonization of the mining sector and large haul trucks, and then moved to Komatsu as a Senior Product Manager for the newly established decarbonization center of excellence, and is still working there today.
Andrew lives in Providence and enjoys the city and culture that it provides. He is an avid reader of science and science fiction, enjoys spending time at the beach with his wife and daughter, and finally taking up learning to sail after living in New England for the past 20 years.
