Emily Heaphy

Biography

Emily Heaphy is an assistant professor of organizational behavior at University of Rhode Island College of Business. She received a Ph.D. in Management and Organizations from the University of Michigan and a B.A. from Wellesley College.

Her research  has appeared in the Academy of Management Review, Organization Science, Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, Harvard Business ReviewHormones and Behavior as well as several edited collections. She serves on the editorial boards of Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal and Organization Science

Research

Professor Heaphy examines positive relationships at work, how they are built, and their effects. Her research on high quality connections articulates what positive work relationships are and how they make a difference at work. She is especially interested in the role of emotions and the human body as integral components of work relationships. Her research has demonstrated how these dimensions affect a variety of outcomes, including resilience and physical health.
