Previously served as Dean of the College of Business Administration at the University of Rhode Island (1998-2006) Formerly Dean of the Belk College of Business Administration at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte and Co-Director, The Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise-Charlotte, Dean of the School of Business and Management at Temple University and Dean of the W. Paul Stillman School of Business of Seton Hall University. Served on the Accreditation Panels of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and AACSB International.  Served on the Board of Directors of Home Loan Investment Bank, Ocean State Business Development Authority, Urban Ventures, Washington Trust Bancorp, the Barrett Growth Fund and Pulse Electronics Corporation. Public appointments have included, among others, Rhode Island Joint Reinsurance Association, the Small Business Advocacy Council of Rhode Island, Rhode Island Governor’s Insurance Council, Rhode Island Automobile Insurance Service Plan’s Governing Board and Panel of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustees, United States Department of Justice (Eastern District of Pennsylvania and Rhode Island)

Earned the  B.B.A. and M.B.A. degrees from the Baruch College of the City University of New York and the  Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University. Author, co-author and editor of twelve books including, among others, LIFESTYLE MARKETING, SPECIALTY RETAILERS, THE AFFLUENT CONSUMER and FOOD INDUSTRY WARS.  His articles have appeared in refereed journals such as the JOURNAL OF MARKETING, JOURNAL OF MARKETING RESEARCH, JOURNAL OF RETAILING, JOURNAL OF ADVERTISING RESEARCH, JOURNAL OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS, AMERICAN BUSINESS LAW JOURNAL, FAMILY ADVOCATE, APPLIED MARKETING ANALYTICS, JOURNAL OF FINANCE, STRATEGIC HR REVIEW and INDUSTRIAL MARKETING MANAGEMENT, among others.

Member of the Academic Liaison Committee, Chief Marketing Officer Council. Member of the Editorial Board of APPLIED MARKETING ANALYTICS and the INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ENTREPRENEURIAL VENTURING. Previously a member of the editorial boards of the JOURNAL OF GLOBAL MARKETING, JOURNAL OF MARKETING EDUCATION, JOURNAL OF THE ACADEMY OF MARKETING SCIENCE, INDUSTRIAL MARKETING MANAGEMENT, JOURNAL OF INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS STUDIES and the JOURNAL OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS.
