Biography

Chris Gorman is a seasoned financial planner who works with business owners and professionals to define their financial goals and develop and implement tax-efficient and risk-managed strategies. In 2018, he founded FocalPoint Financial Group Inc., an independent financial planning firm, following his tenure as a financial advisor at a major Canadian insurance company.

Before becoming a financial planner, Chris held key leadership roles in academia and government. He served as Director of Operations and Strategic Initiatives for the Faculty of Management at the Okanagan campus of the University of British Columbia (UBC), where he managed the delivery of their Master of Management program, external partnerships, and student services. He also served as Executive Assistant to the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, providing strategic counsel and managing high-level communications.

Beyond his professional endeavours, Chris is deeply committed to community service. He served on the board of directors for the YMCA of Southern Interior BC from 2021 to 2023 and was an elected school trustee on the Central Okanagan Board of Education from 2011 to 2018. Additionally, he has volunteered as a senator on the UBC Senate and as a director of the UBC Alumni Association and the University Children’s Learning Centre Society.

Chris lives in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, and enjoys hockey and spending quality time with his partner, Michelle, and their two daughters.
