Biography

Kimberly Bright serves as the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives at Rhode Island College. In this role, Kim is tasked with leading the strategic planning process. Additionally, Kim is instrumental in keeping our key initiatives on track, crafting and implementing the college’s legislative strategy, and managing several other projects on behalf of the President.

Prior to joining RIC, Kim served as the Chief of Staff to the RI Postsecondary Commissioner and as the Acting Executive Director of the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center. In her capacity as Chief of Staff, Kim managed a variety of operations for three different Commissioners, including strategic planning, communications and outreach, legislative affairs, academic affairs, finance, and Board relations.  

At the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center, Kimberly oversaw all operations of the facility, including all fiscal, administrative, communications, stakeholder management, and human resources functions. Kim began her state service at the Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as the Chief of Staff to the Commissioner and Policy Director. She had previously served as Director of Field Operations for Marriage Equality Rhode Island. Kim has also served on the staff of several Members of Congress and is a veteran of several electoral campaigns. 

Kim holds a B.A. in psychology from the University in Rhode Island and a Master in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Kim serves on several boards and is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. In her free time, Kim enjoys traveling, spending time on the beach, and living her best life with her labradoodle Lewis.
