Biography
Milad Kasirian is a Ph.D. student in Finance at the College of Business, University of Rhode Island. His research interests include mutual funds, investor sentiment, and the application of machine learning in finance. With a strong foundation in accounting, Milad chose to pursue a Ph.D. in Finance as a complementary discipline that aligns closely with both his academic background and research goals. Before beginning his doctoral studies, Milad worked as an auditor under CPA institutions, auditing several large holding companies. He also held various accounting roles at a financial software company and served as a financial consultant for construction and technology firms. These roles gave him the opportunity to apply financial theory in practical settings and helped shape the applied and analytical approach he brings to his research today. Milad has over nine years of teaching experience. He spent two years as an instructor at a Technical and Vocational School in Accounting and has taught undergraduate accounting courses at the university level for more than seven years. His teaching experience includes courses such as Principles of Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Financial Accounting, Auditing, Cost Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Applied Mathematics in Accounting, and Financial Project. In addition, he is proficient in several programming languages and statistical software, including Python, SQL, SAS, and STATA, which he actively uses in his research.
