Biography

Thomas More Garrett is a Dominican friar at Providence College where he serves in a dual administrative and faculty role. He is a member of the institution’s senior management team and its strategic planning committee. His work includes counseling the college on commercial and financing matters as well as employment and human resource administration, particularly employment disputes, collective bargaining concerns, and misconduct investigations. 

He also teaches courses in business law and negotiations. Thomas has a BS in public policy analysis from Saint Vincent College, a JD from The Pennsylvania State University and an MDiv and STL from the Dominican House of Studies. He is a member of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business and is licensed to practice law in Rhode Island and the District of Columbia. 

Thomas began his professional career as an attorney with a large international law firm where he focused chiefly on capital market transactions and securities regulation. He led several equity and debt issuances in public and private transactions. He also worked briefly as a US Congressional aide where he supported a member of the House Financial Services Committee.  

More recently, Thomas has had experience in fundraising and development in his role as the associate executive director of a New York nonprofit. He also serves on the board of several nonprofit institutions.
