Biography

Tom currently serves as Vice-President, Global Talent, Culture, and Organization Effectiveness for Univar Solutions, a leading global chemical and ingredient distributor.  In this role, Tom is responsible for driving the implementation and achievement of key culture, talent management, talent development, organization effectiveness and inclusion and diversity objectives globally.  Prior to this role, Tom served as Vice President, Human Resources – Integration for the organization where he led the culture, talent, organization and HR integration strategy for Univar Solutions’ $2.0B acquisition of Nexeo Solutions.  Since joining Univar in early 2017, Tom has held roles of increasing responsibility in HR – including Vice President, Human Resources for the US business.   In all of these roles, Tom has worked closely with Univar’s leaders to drive a significant cultural change in the business – resulting in appreciable improvements in the performance of the business overall.

Prior to joining Univar Solutions, Tom worked for Beam Suntory, a $5B global spirits producer, in a variety of more responsible HR Business Partner roles – most recently as Senior Director, Human Resources for Beam’s Global Supply Chain organization and Global Corporate functions.   Working across functional and geographical boundaries, he focused on driving increased organizational performance through organization, talent, culture and capability-building initiatives, which in part, produced three consecutive years of double-digit earnings growth.  This strong performance resulted in the sale of the business to Suntory Holdings, a Japanese food and beverage conglomerate.  In total, Tom has over 25 years of HR experience, working for a variety of organizations, including: Whirlpool Corporation, McKesson Corporation, LexisNexis, Boise Cascade, and Opinion Research Corporation.

Tom holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University.  In addition, he holds both the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) certifications from the HR Certification Institute and is certified as a SHRM-Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) by the Society for Human Resource Management.
