  • Tour of URI plant and biotechnology lab an eye-opener for high school students April 29, 2025 - Thirty-seven Portsmouth High School students got the chance to see practical applications of what they are learning in a recent visit to the plant and biotechnology lab of Albert Kausch, URI professor of cell and molecular biology. Along with the tour, the students visited the University's medicinal gardens.

  • Senior Spotlight: Johanyx Rodriguez (Cell and Molecular Biology) April 22, 2025 - "I chose CELS because of the close knit environment in the cell and molecular biology department," Johanyx Rodriguez says. "I loved the size of the department, and I felt comfortable with reaching out to professors. The research in CELS is so diverse--ranging from using molecular techniques in oysters to investigating the mechanisms behind neurodegeneration!"
