Chris Demchak – Professor and RDML Grace Hopper Chair of Cyber Security, USNWC

With degrees in engineering, economics, and comparative complex organization systems /political science, Dr. Chris C.Demchak is Grace Hopper Chair of Cyber Security and Senior Cyber Scholar, CIPI, U.S. Naval War College. In publications and current research on cyberspace as a global, insecure, complex, conflict-prone “substrate,” Demchak takes a socio-technical-economic systems approach comparatively with emerging technologies, adversaries’ cyber/AI/ML campaigns, virtual wargaming for strategic/organizational learning, and global/national/enterprise resilience against complex systems surprise.
Laura Horvat CISSP, CISM – Director of Cybersecurity, IGT

Laura’s global team at IGT provides a multi-faceted cybersecurity program across all business verticals as part of the Global Information Security organization. Before joining IGT in 2020, she was Manager of IT Security at Blue Cross Blue Shield RI, held positions at Schneider Electric, F.M. Global, Digital Equipment Corporation and founded her own security consulting practice, OnSiteIT. She obtained a B.S. in Computer Science from Merrimack College and an M.S. in Computer Science from WPI. Her interests include family, travel, science fantasy, math and recently, golf.
Krissy McCooey – Director of Threat and Vulnerability Management at Edward Jones
Krissy is a former student of the University of Rhode Island where she earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Computer Science and was in the first class of students to participate in the Digital Forensics & Cyber Security Program. Today, she is an accomplished cyber security professional with over 17 years of experience, including 14 in leadership roles, across the financial, government and private sectors. Currently, Krissy is the Director of Threat and Vulnerability Management at Edward Jones. Prior to joining Edward Jones, Krissy was the Director for the Red Team, Detection Management Team, and Hunt Team at American Express. She was a VP at Synchrony Financial building and running core security operations programs before assuming responsibility of the Information Security Governance, Risk and Compliance program. She also worked for Booz Allen Hamilton as a Lead Associate for the Computer Incident Response Team.
Isabella Martinez – NSF SFS Scholar URI
Isabella received her BS in Computer Science at URI in May 2023. She is currently enrolled in the Professional Science Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity program at URI. Isabella is a recipient of the Scholarship for Service CyberCorps NSF sponsored scholarship. She currently works as a teaching assistant for CSC 110 at URI and she is an information technology intern for the Defense Information Systems Agency.
