When: Friday, April 3, 12-2 pm
Where: LIB 166

Join us for an engaging Data Science event co-hosted with the Women in Data Science club. Our featured speaker is Alena Korshunova (MBA), a Principal Business Intelligence Analyst in Innovation, Analytics & AI at FM Global. She will share insights into her career path and experience working in industry — an opportunity to learn about real-world applications of data science and professional pathways beyond academia.

FM Global (now branded as FM) is a major commercial property insurance company headquartered in Johnston, Rhode Island. Founded in 1835, it is one of the world’s leading insurers specializing in property risk management and loss prevention, using a science- and engineering-based approach to assess and reduce risks such as fire, natural disasters, and equipment failure.

Associate Professor Natallia Katenka, Director of Data Science, will also highlight graduate opportunities at URI, the AI Lab, and faculty research. Indrani Mandal (CSC) will present on AI opportunities. Professors Shaun Wallace, Ashley L. Buchanan, Krishna Venkatasubramanian, and Noah Daniels will feature their research or stop by to introduce themselves — making this a chance to learn about ongoing work across CSC, STA, AMS, and related areas.

Pastries, fruit, and coffee/tea will be provided. The format will be informal to encourage conversation and networking.
