Biography

Name: Elizabeth Wyllie

Job Title: Intake Specialist, Disability, Access, and Inclusion

Job title if you could make your own: Expert Dog Cuddler

In another life, I’m pretty sure I was: a Chef or Food Critic. I love all things food-related. Growing up I loved baking and over the last couple of years, I love the creative outlet that cooking has to offer. I hate food waste so I am always trying to come up with creative ways to use the food I have on hand so it doesn’t end up getting thrown out.

On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me: with a cup of coffee in a to-go mug and going to the beach with my dog to walk and search for sea glass.

Name a few of your daily habits:  My daily habits tend to revolve around my dog, Sammie. Every day, first thing in the morning I take my dog to the park to burn off some energy playing fetch, and then the first thing I do when I get home from work is to take her for a long walk before we settle in for the night.

What was the biggest obstacle you had to overcome to accomplish your academic goals?  Self-doubt and feeling less than those around me. In undergrad, I remember feeling that everyone else was so much better prepared than I was. Once I was able to form better study habits and stop comparing myself to others, I was less stressed and confident that I prepared to the best of my ability.

What advice would you give to your past self?  Speak up when you are feeling overwhelmed! More than likely, someone else feels the same way you do and there are tons of resources available to help you.

What is your favorite part about your job?  Working with a great team who all want the best for their students!
